Under the direction of Phyllis Michaels, Bluestone leads a highly qualified team of architects, engineers, project managers, and skilled craftsmen, transforming existing homes into thoughtfully renovated residences of enduring quality.
Our Story
With more than thirty years of experience as an architectural designer, home renovator, and custom home builder, Phyllis brings a deep understanding of how people experience space. Growing up in a multigenerational household rich with different languages, traditions, and daily rituals, she developed a heightened awareness of the five senses — sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. That sensitivity continues to guide every renovation she and her team create, shaping homes that feel as good as they look.
Phyllis’s design foundation was strongly influenced by her father, an artistically inclined clothing designer who later applied his creative eye to architecture. He designed the family’s first home with a full-length screened porch and a sixteen-foot pocket sliding glass door, seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor living. A devoted admirer of Frank Lloyd Wright, he believed in bringing the exterior into the interior — a philosophy that would later become central to Phyllis’s own design approach.
After earning a degree in Architectural Design from the University of Florida, Phyllis began her career at an architectural firm in Orlando, working on schools, churches, HUD housing, and coastal condominiums. Within a few years, she launched her own design-build construction company, delivering new homes, office buildings, medical renovations, and restaurant spaces.
Following a move to Maryland, Phyllis grew her design-build business with a focus on high-end residential homes in the $1.2 to $3 million range. Over the years, her work received multiple industry awards and recognition for both design excellence and craftsmanship. After decades of success in Maryland, she returned to Florida to enjoy the coastal lifestyle and continue doing what she loves most — creating exceptional homes.
Today, Bluestone Contractors reflects the depth of experience Phyllis brings to every project. Year after year, her work has been recognized by the Home Builders Association for its quality and innovation. Our team is highly skilled in home additions and renovations, ensuring your home evolves with your lifestyle, and we construct accessory dwelling units (ADUs) that serve as guest houses, rental properties, or home offices. Home Warranty
Bluestone Contractors, LLC provides a one-year warranty for all newly constructed homes and renovations “for all construction defects of equipment, material, or workmanship furnished by the builder or any subcontractor or supplier resulting in a material violation of the Florida Building Code.” Certain defects—namely those related to “appliances or equipment that are covered under a manufacturer warranty” or in the case of renovations; newly constructed work that fails due to existing conditions do not fall within the scope of this warranty.
However, we do not warrant (1) “normal wear and tear,” (2) “normal house settling within generally accepted trade practices,” (3) work performed by anyone “other than the builder or its employees, agents, or contractors,” or (4) “any loss or damage” to the home caused by the owner or “an act of God”—i.e., actions “over which the builder has no control.”
