About Phyllis Michaels
Founder & Principal
Phyllis Michaels has spent more than 30 years building homes that people never want to leave. Her foundation is both formal and deeply personal — shaped by a Bachelor of Design from the University of Florida, decades of hands-on construction experience, and a childhood that taught her to see spaces in a way most people never do.
Growing up in a multi-generational household rich with different languages, traditions, and daily rituals, Phyllis developed a heightened awareness of the way people live and experience their home. Her father, an artistically inclined designer with a passion for architecture, designed the family’s first home — blurring the line between indoor and outdoor living. A devoted admirer of Frank Lloyd Wright, he believed in bringing the exterior into the interior, a philosophy that became central to Phyllis’s own design approach.
After earning her degree, Phyllis launched her career at an Orlando architectural firm working on a range of commercial projects. She soon started her own design-build company, delivering new homes and commercial work across the region. Following a move to Maryland, she grew her practice around high-end residential projects — including luxury new custom homes — with homes ranging from $1.5M to $3M, earning multiple industry awards for design excellence and craftsmanship. She eventually returned to Florida to enjoy the coastal lifestyle and continue doing what she loves most — creating exceptional homes.

Our team is highly skilled in home additions and remodeling, ensuring your home evolves with your lifestyle, and we construct accessory dwelling units (ADUs) that serve as guest houses, rental properties, or home offices. Home Warranty
Bluestone Contractors, LLC provides a one-year warranty for all newly constructed additions and remodeling “for all construction defects of equipment, material, or workmanship furnished by the builder or any subcontractor or supplier resulting in a material violation of the Florida Building Code.” Certain defects—namely those related to “appliances or equipment that are covered under a manufacturer warranty” or in the case of remodeling; newly constructed work that fails due to existing conditions do not fall within the scope of this warranty. In addition, Bluestone Contractors provides a two- year warranty on all newly installed structural components, waterproofing and roofing.
However, we do not warrant (1) “normal wear and tear,” (2) “normal house settling within generally accepted trade practices,” (3) work performed by anyone “other than the builder or its employees, agents, or contractors,” or (4) “any loss or damage” to the home caused by the owner or “an act of God”—i.e., actions “over which the builder has no control.”
